Today
Is good.
Yesterday, not so much,
And let’s not even think about prior to that.
But today,
I like it.
The sky
The air
The day,
All smiling at me
And this,
this is a very good thing.
I think I will smile back-
just a little.
It’s the least I can do.
Thank You.

Gimme Gimme
I want it all
Not just a slice
Gimme some
Of that starlight
It tastes so good
Gimme some of that
Beauty
It burns so cold
I turn my back
And
the ice cold fire
Is rock
The glittering starlight-
Just a busted LED display
You need me
Because I need you
What gives?
No,
Who gives?
Phoenix
No
It ain’t in Arizona
And no,
It ain’t no mythic bird
It is
Faith-
In the plan.
Faith-
In the moment.
Faith-
In inevitability,
And faith in in the soul.
Just when you think
There is nothing to do
But sit on your hands
And drink another brew,
She arrives
With gold in her hair.
She comforts you-
But not with a “there-there”.
She lights a fire
Deep in your gut
She’ll sound the choir
And drop salt on that cut.
“YOU’RE ALIVE GODDAMN YOU, SO GET OFF THE FLOOR,
STEP RIGHT BACK IN AND GET KNOCKED ‘ROUND S’MORE!”
So you get to your feet as she kisses your cheek.
You pop your collar and start feeling not so weak.

Is it wrong, when encountering waves upon waves of the monochromatic masses, to feel pity? …but it is not really pity, because there is a sense of pride, boastful pride rooted in the knowledge that my own vibrancy reverberates Mother’s song, from the other end of the spectrum. Resonating deeply with the dirt beneath my toes. Is it wrong to feel so connected, and at the same time, so disconnected from that which is? Oh, the game must be played, and it shall be… it is currently, but it is only fun if it is remembered to be just that, and only if we are always aware of the song. That song that rang out at our births, and fades away gently, to black

Now,
Now I can be me.

The shadows play in front of eyes

the spark of fantasy flashes all ’round.
the air is alive with wild imaginings-
creeping beasts, and surly trolls

This witching is when you’ll know
there is more to you than flesh and bone.
The earth herself is not immune
from taking time to commune
with gaia, her sacred “other”
but to me, she’s simply mother.

She does love you,
