we are not
who we were.
We can be more
if we can remember to forget.

Who is that?
What does she do,
When you look away?
Does he dance?
Does she sing?
Does he capture the soul
of the moment
with a pen?
Or does he cease to exist
when you turn away?
Where do you go
when no one
is looking?
Where do you go?
A smile,
wrapped
in a poem.
For all to see?
No.
For your eyes
alone.
Eyes I dream to see.
Eyes I wish that could see me.
Eyes that would stop the very sea.
Eyes that must never be.
For yours,
are Eyes
that have
broken me.
And Love too.
Shhhhhh
Keep it quiet.
No one must know,
that
I am
in love.
with a cruel
hard
beautiful
mystery-ridden
Bitch.
Every step of the way,
as I look a bit deeper
into her wide
open eyes,
in that vast void,
I feel myself
slipping
deeper
and deeper
into my own soul.
It scares me
how far it goes.
it scares me
how far I must go.
it scares me to glimpse
just how grand
we can all be-
how grand we
MUST
Be.
But I am ready now.
I am ready
to dance with you.
So Madame,
You wicked wonderful
wild woman,
Let’s Play.
When every exhale
invigorates
just as the breath

When your own smile warms

Where are you Muse
when a smile is on my lips?
How do I wax eloquent
on the earnest of being,
when I feel only joy?
The Moment has grabbed
me for another last dance,
And Muse, let me tell you-
Girl got moves. Moves like
you’ve never seen.
Keeping me up for days,
mesmerized.
So what do I do?
How do I share what roils
underneath?
Muse,
Dear sweet Muse.
I’m gonna find you.
And Muse honey,
I’m gonna bang your brains out.
See ya soon.
for a glimpse
of yesterday.
to see those eyes again,
those eyes
-so quick to harden in fear,
those hard eyes,
that would melt into the softest smile.
Frames of hope
flitter past my eye
and I hope
for a glimpse
of summer.
I see a kid-
A kid with a big head.
I see him
on the corner,
Leg folded up at the knee
Flat foot against a streetlamp.
“hey kid”
“hey yourself”
“Excuse me?”
“No. I won’t”
“Who the …
Who are you?”
Yeah… you wouldn’t be knowing that
Would you?”
“Now wait…”
“NO!
I’m done waiting,
And you should be too”
A pause.
Followed by a period.
I watched as he walked up the street, whistling as he turned the corner.
With a foolish grin I ran after him, feeling alive for the first time in years.
