familiar brew

into simpler times
when hopes
cares were
one and the same. and
standing there waiting

so i warn you of the coming storm, and
you smile,
in that way that you do,
reciting fables,
as you tell me to shoo.

my light
shines brighter
in the shadow you cast,
yet still you bask adoringly
in the brilliance of my love
for you.

the storm approaches.

and so we dance
as wildflowers do.

under the midnight sky.
we dance:
twin fires
scorched by the wonder of the other,
sinking into
forbidden delights;

true souls lost
the bliss
of an existence forgot.

How could we know
the power
we wield?
we are young,
we are eternal,

we are.
