Why the deprevation? Because,

these words
are a
tangle
of those
things
hidden
and
unknown.

these images
pierce
the cashmere vale,
connecting you
to your
inner Xanadu
(or is it Kathmandu?).

so come
& get lost
in what you forgot you knew.

come
& get lost
in your depths.

come
& get lost….
falling,
until
you hit the moon.

morning song

a song of empty
greets a soul longing
for more,
stoking familiar-
almost comforting
fears.

a blanket
of caution,
a shield
of doubt;
the wisdom
& safety
of living
without.

across the valley,
a young child’s
chest
bursts with songs
of hope.
and the birds,
and the antelope,
and the wind
join in jubilation.

the empty retreats;
love moves in.

Heron

pounding
against cold morning air.
wings of wonder
carry him west,
alone.

as his brothers
skeined south,
across the winter sky,
he alone
sought a new way.

lost with purpose
and confused
with passion,
he beats furiously
at the past
until he weeps.

and then beats some more.

they call him wise
and ask for direction.
they call him wanderer
and beg for tales.
but they never call him
friend,
and offer love.

but,
on this day,
the future calls.
perhaps peace awaits-
for some short time.

fly my friend,
and thank you.

The After Party

pounding
so gently,
knocking at Destiny’s door.
asking,
“when, when will we know
what this is?”.

the reply,
swelling up
from your cores:
“you know what
this is….
you know,

you do.

and so we dance
to the pounding drums.

we dance like children in love.

we dance like angels in ecstasy.

we dance like lovers: Supreme.

we dance forevermore.

Eternal Soulstice Eyes (a prayer for winter)

through the
grey cold
of the coming dark,
closed eyes
see
only wonder
and light.

lost in the emptiness of
the long nights,
i settle before
the scrubbed hearth,
lost in a reverie
of endless possibility.

the beauty of Spring,
Summer,
&
Autumn
all wrapped up
within,
feeding this
flame.

such beauty i feel.
such beauty and love.

come walk beside me,
in the fire of my soul,
and I will remind you of the wonders
within yours.

close your eyes.
let us warm ourselves
in the solitude of winter.

Circumstance

for whatever reason,
we find ourselves here
together.
wondering, hoping,
feeling.

the stars are
perfectly misaligned,
and our fates
known only
during the pause
between hearbeat
and
breath.

i care not for why,
or how,
or,
when.
this interlude,
pregnant with love and
gentle kindness,
is divine.

this moment
is
perfect
with you.

and this moment
is all there is.

so fall with me,
into the next,
and the one after that,
and every moment thereafter,
for eternity.

silly sunshine snow shoes (or flip-flops in winter)

cold grey Winter
blows cheerfully on my cheeks.
my numbing toes begin
to tingle with excitement.
my fingers tingle as well.
and,
I sing the third verse
in this song
of love.

this song,
I sing
to you.

Within

i listen
for your wisdom.

i yearn
for your touch.

i close my eyes,
and
almost
feel you
guiding me to safety.

it is so dark,
without you.
the silence
so full.

without,
there is nothing.
but i will find you
within.

and we shall dance again,
as lovers and friends do.
we shall laugh once more
as angels and children do.

i open my eyes
and see through this cloud.

i open my eyes
and see i am here,
with you
in my heart.

i am almost ready to fly again.

Stream

twisting,
and
turning,
and
slipping through
this land
and the next.

what wonders
did you trickle past
before you came
to tickle my toes?

what joy it is
to float with you
and explore these sandy shores.
in this eternal summer
of sunshine and smiles
we are,
love.

but as i climb back on land
you continue on to vistas new.
what will you see?
what will you do?

without me.

will you remember our games?
how we played happily?

will you ever return?

perhaps one day I’ll float along and find you,
but not today.

Twilight

I hear the sun setting.
can you hear it too?

it sounds
like
the beginning
of something new.
it frightens me.
yet, it welcomes you.

I’m not sure if I like it.
No.

I don’t like it.
but,
do you?

in the deep night,
I still
hear that soft
silence
beckoning so sweetly.

the sun rises,
without you.
i heard nothing
crescendo at dawn.

did you?
I’ll never know,
but i do know
that you know
that
I love you.
